Job Description

Our client is looking for a highly motivated technical sales executive for the West Coast with experience managing large territories for fast-growing network, security, and/or SaaS companies. If you have a track record of overachieving quota, selling into both Service Provider and Enterprise accounts, and being the lead sales representative in a large geographic region, this is a great opportunity and we want to talk to you. The ideal candidate is a hunter who can work in an extremely fast-paced, revenue-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect for new business with new customers to rapidly expand given territory.
  • Generate a high volume of new opportunities to deliver predictable business.
  • Diligently manage pipeline, leading to accurate forecasting.
  • Manage all aspects of the sales cycle.
  • Achieve QoQ growth in your territory.
  • Work collaboratively with SDR and marketing teams to build demand gen programs that generate net new pipeline for your territory.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors and industry trends.
  • Travel is a requirement and you must be able to travel on short notice.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced senior salesperson with a minimum of 8-years experience in the networking, monitoring, and/or security fields selling to technical buyers.
  • Technical background (IP Networking, SaaS, Network Management/Forensics).
  • Experience managing a large territory and quickly prioritizing prospects to meet your number.
  • Proven track record. (Service Provider experience is highly favorable.)
  • Experience closing deals up to $1M or more in TCV on a recurring revenue basis and an expert at working a robust funnel.
  • Strong pipeline management skills and forecasting of territory performance.
  • Ability to position new technology, present to both technical practitioners and C-level executives, and map strong product functionality to business value.

JOB TITLE(s): Sales Engineer, Virtualization SME, NASP Sales

Job Description

Our client is seeking a seasoned Sales Engineer to perform a strategic subject matter expert role focused on cloud/virtualization visibility for private and public cloud/SDN deployments in carrier environments. This individual contributor must be a team player with a proven track record translating product knowledge into sales. Reporting to the Director of NA Service Provider Sales Engineering, the candidate will be ready to complement/overlay account teams either at the customer premise or remote with highly technical discussions and presentations, solution alignments, on-site installations, post deployment guidance, and strategic follow up with respect to ongoing feature needs and solution refinement. The candidate must have an appreciation of the key challenges facing carriers deploying virtualized solutions in their private clouds/SDNs or migrations to the public cloud. The candidate will be the “go to” technical escalation within the NASP sales team. Leveraging excellent cross-functional project leadership skills and strong and detailed product definition skills will be a must.

The ideal candidate has an excellent foundational understanding of virtualization platforms such as VMware (ESX, NSX) and OpenStack (OVS/Neutron) along with current NFV market dynamics. Working knowledge of public clouds is highly advantageous (AWS, Azure, Google). Equally, the candidate has a strong understanding of physical network visibility next-gen packet broker and tap/aggregation principles. Much of our current business involves networks in a hybrid-like “transition” mode from physical to virtual so it is critical this individual bridge the two worlds.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide SE-level subject matter expertise in the NASP territory for our client’s NFV/SDN and Cloud visibility products. Strong presentation and communication skills either in person (on-site) or remote (WebEx, phone, etc.) are a must.
  • Ready to assist customers in the various stages of planning, installation, and deployment; ability to train (informal) is a significant plus.
  • Collaborate with NFV-focused HQ stakeholders within Product Line Management and Engineering in identifying customer needs and industry trends and translating them into future features and solution sets.
  • Attend formal training as necessary and approved by Director of NASP SEs to solidify and maintain strong NFV knowledge as it relates to carrier environments (i.e. 4G/LTE/CUPS/5G; CDNs; Triple-play delivery, etc.).
  • Assess the competitive landscape to help keep NASP team and HQ abreast of external threats and challenges.
  • As time permits, collaborate with SP-focused HQ peers in the creation of compelling sales enablement and customer-facing assets conveying the our client’s message, including: presentations, white papers, web pages, battle cards, sales playbooks, blogs, press articles and promotions.
  • On occasion, be willing to support and assist account-based SEs with various tasks or projects either related or not to NFV and Cloud. The NASP team is highly collaborative and team oriented so hence the candidate should be prepared to contribute as requested to ensure success (position is paid on team quota).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in a technical area (Computer Science, Computer Engineering); or equivalent work experience.
  • 8-10 years experience in a Pre-Sales Engineering role in carrier ethernet and/or network monitoring.
  • Solid industry knowledge of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and TCP/IP Internetworking.
  • Strong working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare and OpenStack/KVM. LINUX is highly preferred.
  • Effective technical presentation skills with projected material (Powerpoint) or hand drawn whiteboard illustration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Project management a major plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, intuitive thinker, passionate for knowledge, autonomous worker, highly resourceful individual
  • Comfortable with technical and business English usage (document reading, e-mails, conference calls via WebEx)
  • Travel 30-40% of time within the territory account sites

Our client has an amazing product, an enthusiastic and happy user base, and is rapidly adding large global enterprise customers. They are seeking to build a world-class Customer Success team and are looking for technical rock stars with a passion for customer service. In your role as a Customer Success Engineer, you will engage with users early in their adoption cycle, ensuring their solutions are built for success, supporting implementation from concept through production, and both following and continually enhancing processes to ensure consistent repeatable excellence across the entire customer base. You will help educate our customers, deploy our solution to meet their business objectives, guide them towards implementation of best practices and provide technical support.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure success of your assigned customers’ deployments – enable them to maximize the value they get from their relationship with our client
  • Develop and deliver technical training
  • Build a multi-media knowledge base for our customers to help accelerate learning and self-enablement
  • First-line responsibility for your own set of customers, including answering customer’s technical questions, detailed problem diagnosis, and liaising with engineering for resolution of any product issues
  • Work with product management to help align our product roadmap with the needs of our customers
  • Manage your own time to balance urgent priorities and important long-term tasks, to meet or exceed committed SLAs while ensuring the customer’s success in meeting their deployment objectives
  • Maintain systems and processes to ensure consistent delivery across all customers
  • Participation in on-call 24×7 support schedule and be the escalation point of contact for your assigned customers
  • Communicate with customers to establish clear shared objectives and expectations, including managing the quarterly business review process (scheduling, agenda, collating actions, managing follow-up)

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience with direct operational responsibility for complex software systems (e.g. as a site reliability engineer), or in a customer-facing role working with enterprise customers who were implementing complex software solutions (i.e. you were managing systems for / providing support to highly technical users, not desktop / IT helpdesk)
  • Solid current technical skills & knowledge – you will be able to check off most (if not all) the following:
  • Linux fundamentals and system administration
  • IP networking
  • Private and public VM environments (e.g. OpenStack, AWS, Azure, GCE)
  • Software development/operations (DevOps) experience
  • Network and systems security / SecOps
  • Container environments including orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Information Technology or related
  • Analytical and process-oriented mindset
  • Passionate about customer success
  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement
  • Enthusiastic and creative problem solver, with the ability to inspire others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in an early-stage startup environment
  • Location: Anywhere in the United States
  • Willingness to travel (mostly nationally, occasional international) as required (total travel <25%).
