JOB TITLE(s): Director Technical Marketing

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for leading, planning, developing, driving, and executing our global technical marketing strategy. As a leader in the marketing team you will work very closely with product management, sales engineering, development engineering, and product marketing to ensure timely planning and flawless delivery of technical marketing initiatives to accomplish technical sales enablement, enable customer knowledge, drive product technology direction, and perform competitive analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting and driving global technical marketing strategy, customer technical competency, and technical decision maker knowledge
  • Working directly with customers to ensure success during early stage product evaluation, testing, trials, and deployments in labs, proof of concept environments and product deployments
  • Partnering with product management to create thorough user tutorials and agile development technical documents to drive successful product development
  • Driving technical sales enablement including presentations, tools, content, collateral, and information used by sales, partners, and customers
  • Defining technical components of global launches, announcements, and marketing campaigns
  • Presenting to technical leaders at customers executive briefings, speaking at industry events, and demonstration product in front of large and small audiences
  • Producing corporate technical briefing presentations and generating technical presentations for product launches
  • Planning, producing, writing, editing and publishing content such as technical eBooks, website technical content, and external technical blog articles
  • Creating technical webinar strategy and content
  • Developing technical slides, technical industry white papers, technical vertical white papers, partner solution guides, and partner technical guides
  • Performing competitive analysis and differentiation
  • Collaborating with the product management and engineering groups on technical sales and partner technical enablement content
  • Leading the creation of sales engineering presentations, technical decision-maker slide decks, sales engineering content, partner engineering content and partner engineering presentations
  • Generating technical solution briefs, technical white papers, short technical vignettes, and sales funnel targeted technical content
  • Inventing storyboards, scripts and content for technical sales, customer, partner and videos
  • Enabling channel partners with technical presentations, technical collateral, and digital demand generation content (email copy, web copy, landing page copy)
  • Leading the development of customer proof of concept guidelines and success criteria
  • Reviewing and assisting sales engineering in responses to RFPs and RFIs
  • Owning, tracking and managing budgets and expenses to ensure fiscal discipline

Qualifications:

  • 8 to 10 years of technical marketing experience in high tech
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills, especially in a fast-paced cross-functional environment“Roll up sleeves and do what it takes” attitude
  • Strong team player not afraid to present new, creative ideas

Responsibilities:

  • Work on incoming leads, qualify opportunities & build a pipeline
  • Identify stakeholders, map out decision making process & build account plans
  • Leverage resources to effectively execute account plan
  • Actively manage and nurture your pipeline
  • Provide feedback to product & marketing teams
  • Blow past your sales targets and have fun doing it

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years as an Enterprise Software Sales rep
  • 2+ years in a Software start-up
  • Experience in selling Application Infrastructure Software to Dev & IT teams
  • A consistent track record of exceeding quota
  • Value based sales approach
  • A disciplined approach to sales
  • Experience negotiating with procurement teams
  • Experience in closing $200K + deals
