  • Prospect for new business with new customers to rapidly expand given territory.

JOB TITLE(s): Sales Engineer, Virtualization SME, NASP Sales

Job Description

Our client is seeking a seasoned Sales Engineer to perform a strategic subject matter expert role focused on cloud/virtualization visibility for private and public cloud/SDN deployments in carrier environments. This individual contributor must be a team player with a proven track record translating product knowledge into sales. Reporting to the Director of NA Service Provider Sales Engineering, the candidate will be ready to complement/overlay account teams either at the customer premise or remote with highly technical discussions and presentations, solution alignments, on-site installations, post deployment guidance, and strategic follow up with respect to ongoing feature needs and solution refinement. The candidate must have an appreciation of the key challenges facing carriers deploying virtualized solutions in their private clouds/SDNs or migrations to the public cloud. The candidate will be the “go to” technical escalation within the NASP sales team. Leveraging excellent cross-functional project leadership skills and strong and detailed product definition skills will be a must.

The ideal candidate has an excellent foundational understanding of virtualization platforms such as VMware (ESX, NSX) and OpenStack (OVS/Neutron) along with current NFV market dynamics. Working knowledge of public clouds is highly advantageous (AWS, Azure, Google). Equally, the candidate has a strong understanding of physical network visibility next-gen packet broker and tap/aggregation principles. Much of our current business involves networks in a hybrid-like “transition” mode from physical to virtual so it is critical this individual bridge the two worlds.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide SE-level subject matter expertise in the NASP territory for our client’s NFV/SDN and Cloud visibility products. Strong presentation and communication skills either in person (on-site) or remote (WebEx, phone, etc.) are a must.
  • Ready to assist customers in the various stages of planning, installation, and deployment; ability to train (informal) is a significant plus.
  • Collaborate with NFV-focused HQ stakeholders within Product Line Management and Engineering in identifying customer needs and industry trends and translating them into future features and solution sets.
  • Attend formal training as necessary and approved by Director of NASP SEs to solidify and maintain strong NFV knowledge as it relates to carrier environments (i.e. 4G/LTE/CUPS/5G; CDNs; Triple-play delivery, etc.).
  • Assess the competitive landscape to help keep NASP team and HQ abreast of external threats and challenges.
  • As time permits, collaborate with SP-focused HQ peers in the creation of compelling sales enablement and customer-facing assets conveying the our client’s message, including: presentations, white papers, web pages, battle cards, sales playbooks, blogs, press articles and promotions.
  • On occasion, be willing to support and assist account-based SEs with various tasks or projects either related or not to NFV and Cloud. The NASP team is highly collaborative and team oriented so hence the candidate should be prepared to contribute as requested to ensure success (position is paid on team quota).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in a technical area (Computer Science, Computer Engineering); or equivalent work experience.
  • 8-10 years experience in a Pre-Sales Engineering role in carrier ethernet and/or network monitoring.
  • Solid industry knowledge of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and TCP/IP Internetworking.
  • Strong working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMWare and OpenStack/KVM. LINUX is highly preferred.
  • Effective technical presentation skills with projected material (Powerpoint) or hand drawn whiteboard illustration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Project management a major plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, intuitive thinker, passionate for knowledge, autonomous worker, highly resourceful individual
  • Comfortable with technical and business English usage (document reading, e-mails, conference calls via WebEx)
  • Travel 30-40% of time within the territory account sites

In your role as a Customer Success Engineer, you will engage with users early in their adoption cycle, ensuring their solutions are built for success, supporting implementation from concept through production, and both following and continually enhancing processes to ensure consistent repeatable excellence across the entire customer base. You will help educate our customers, deploy our solution to meet their business objectives, guide them towards implementation of best practices and provide technical support.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure success of your assigned customers’ deployments – enable them to maximize the value they get from their relationship with our client
  • Develop and deliver technical training
  • Build a multi-media knowledge base for our customers to help accelerate learning and self-enablement
  • First-line responsibility for your own set of customers, including answering customer’s technical questions, detailed problem diagnosis, and liaising with engineering for resolution of any product issues
  • Work with product management to help align our product roadmap with the needs of our customers
  • Manage your own time to balance urgent priorities and important long-term tasks, to meet or exceed committed SLAs while ensuring the customer’s success in meeting their deployment objectives
  • Maintain systems and processes to ensure consistent delivery across all customers
  • Participation in on-call 24×7 support schedule and be the escalation point of contact for your assigned customers
  • Communicate with customers to establish clear shared objectives and expectations, including managing the quarterly business review process (scheduling, agenda, collating actions, managing follow-up)

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience with direct operational responsibility for complex software systems (e.g. as a site reliability engineer), or in a customer-facing role working with enterprise customers who were implementing complex software solutions (i.e. you were managing systems for / providing support to highly technical users, not desktop / IT helpdesk)
  • Solid current technical skills & knowledge – you will be able to check off most (if not all) the following:
  • Linux fundamentals and system administration
  • IP networking
  • Private and public VM environments (e.g. OpenStack, AWS, Azure, GCE)
  • Software development/operations (DevOps) experience
  • Network and systems security / SecOps
  • Container environments including orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Information Technology or related
  • Analytical and process-oriented mindset
  • Passionate about customer success
  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement

  • Lead the technical engagement in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, with the support of the rest of the team. You will be instrumental in ensuring the success of both the customer and client.
  • Assist potential customers with architecture, PoC, and lab trials with the goal of moving those to a successful deployment of our clients’ solutions for network security spanning Calico, Istio and other leading edge technologies.
  • Collect and analyze requirements from the field and assist the CTO and Product Management teams, deriving a set of features or capabilities that would meet those requirements.
  • Provide customers with consulting services utilizing your expertise in Networking, Security and Orchestration, especially relating to Kubernetes and Service Mesh deployment.
  • Become a trusted resource and advocate for your customers. Someone who the customer relies on to give the right answer, not necessarily the most commercially rewarding answer.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in data center environments. Preferably related to networking, security, orchestration, ‘cloud’ infrastructure, and/or scale-out/big-data environments.
  • Experience as a sales engineer, solutions architect, resident engineer, or consulting engineer, ideally with an open source based product, would be a plus.
  • Experience as an actual operator (architect, SRE, DevOps, NetOps, SecOps, etc.) of microservices deployments would be a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to present on and discuss complex architectures.
  • A deep technical understanding, including hands-on experience, of cloud and container technologies (such as AWS, GCE, Azure, Docker and Kubernetes).
  • Deep understanding of Linux networking fundamentals (especially the IP routing and filtering stack).
  • Ability and desire to code compelling demos in one or more languages.

Job Description

NA Service Provider sales team is seeking a sales engineering professional with industry-leading skills and experience to provide direct daily on-site expert solution and technical consultation at our Major Client’s Denver, CO headquarters.

This position is the technical complement working in close conjunction with the Regional Sales Director, NA SP (RSD). Together they oversee the overarching strategy in preserving present and future revenue and product satisfaction. This is an individual contributor role with accountability into multiple functional groups. It reports to the Sr. Manager of Sales Engineering, North America Service Providers. Candidate is ideally local to the Denver, CO area and willing to travel up to 30% (mainly to HQ in Santa Clara, CA).

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as our Major Account’s primary “go-to” technical trusted advisor. MUST take immediate proactive, aggressive ownership of all network solutions, designs, and proposals that match the strengths of our products to the needs of our Major Client. Solutions should jointly address both their technical and business objectives as well as future growth. Candidate must demonstrate command of timelines, dependencies, and key factors for success in every facet of solution delivery.
  • Develop or adapt existing test plans to validate proposed designs and features. Experience utilizing a laboratory environment is highly desired, i.e. using traffic generation tools (Ixia, Spirent) and packet capture tools (Wireshark). Candidate must also collaborate with Engineering System Test and Quality Assurance teams at HQ. THIS IS A CRITICAL

Component of the Role: 

  • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional groups (outside of Sales) dedicated to Client’s success. This includes the CTO office and its associated Fellows, Product Line Management (PLM), Principal SEs, Customer Success Managers, Resident Engineers, and Support Engineers. Serve as a central arm in terms of driving technical success.
  • Collaborate with CTO office, PLM, and Engineering to develop features and solutions as required to meet our Client’s needs both present and future. Anticipate our Client’s needs by applying industry knowledge with an entrepreneurial spirit. Candidate must demonstrate a track record of technical creativity and thought leadership with respect to solution development and problem solving.
  • Strong ability to produce design and Method of Procedure documentation (Visio, Word, customer provided tooling). SE must clearly describe a proposed network solution in enough detail so that our Client understands both the technical and business benefits. Prospective candidate must provide samples of former design and MOP materials.
  • Coordinate with support and resident engineers for trouble ticket resolution as needed.
  • Manage critical administrative tasks:
    o Customer feature requests o Perform periodic “bug scrub” research (as releases become available)
    o Oversee topology design discussions
  • Perform in-depth and technical presentations as needed. Must possess highly persuasive speaking skills with conviction.
  • Provide mentorship/guidance to our Client’s staff in terms of technical training, education, or use case configuration.
  • Obtain technical training as needed to maintain technical impact

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a technical area (CS/EE); or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years experience in a Pre-Sales or Consulting Engineer role in a mobile telecommunications environment.
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, LTE/4G, 3G, VoLTE, IMS, and SIP/RTP as it relates to mobile technology.
  • Working knowledge of current virtualization technology landscape. Openstack/KVM/OVS is highly desirable.
  • Efficient project and time management skills.
  • Highly effective technical presentation skills a must.
  • Comfortable with technical and business English usage and tools (document reading, e-mails, conference calls, WebEx, Powerpoint, Word).
  • Excellent command of English language, both spoken and written.
  • Fast learner; quick to understand; ability to capture complex concepts with expediency
  • Must be resourceful and willing to take leadership role if necessary to drive resolution.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced solutions engineering leader to play an integral role in the success of the sales and engineering teams. This position reports to the VP of Sales and will help lead technical sales efforts.

Responsibilities: 

  • Own the technical relationship with customers, including managing product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and coordination with the engineering and product management groups.
  • Work hands-on with customers to demonstrate and prototype our client’s product integrations in customer/partner environments.
  • Recommend integration strategies required to successfully implement a complete solution using our clients products.
  • Provide product descriptions and content for proposals in response to RFPs & RFIs.
  • Travel to client sites throughout assigned region.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of working experience in a technical role
  • 3+ years of experience as a customer, vendor, or channel partner Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer or Solutions Architect
  • Deep understanding of at least one of the following areas: security, containers, microservices
  • Experience and skill sets in areas such as large scale web application architectures and agile software development lifecycle.
  • Experience selling, demonstrating, installing, and troubleshooting security solutions
  • Practical knowledge of systems installation, configuration, and administration of UNIX/Linux systems and virtual environments (e.g. Google Cloud, AWS, MS Azure, VMWare etc.)
  • Familiarity with application monitoring platforms and telemetry tools.
  • Familiarity with scripting using Python or equivalent languages.
